The countryside around Castelletto Uzzone belongs to the province of Cuneo in southern Piedmont, bordering on Liguria. An hour’s drive will take you to a beautiful fishing village beach in Spotorno or Noli directly on the Ligurian Sea. The province impresses with its variety of landscapes, densely overgrown valleys, geometrically laid out vineyards, secluded castles and protected areas of incomparable beauty. Over the centuries, the area has been the bone of contention of great noble families and can therefore look back on a history that is reflected in its artistic and cultural heritage.

In the province of Cuneo, there are various small towns steeped in history with important works of art, such as Saluzzo, Alba, Fossano and Mondovi. And last but not least, the province is considered to be the growing region for the best Italian wines (e.g. Barolo, Barbera, Barbaresco). Truffle season is from October until late winter. The truffle hunters usually set off at dusk and at night with their specially trained dogs. The principle of law applies: whoever finds truffles gets to keep them – no wonder every “trifolao” guards his truffle place like a gold treasure. The immediate area around Castelleto Uzzone is famous above all for its “Tonda Gentile”, a very special type of hazelnut. The “noble round” is used, among other things, for the typical nut nougat cream of the region and is also found in the production of the region’s pralines and cake creations.
